A Story of Cows and Buffalos

Are you smarter than a cow?

I know that it sounds like a ridiculous question, but I really want you to think about this because I’ve got a story about this and afterwards you will see that: Hmm. Maybe there are some life lessons that you can learn from a cow.

So let’s start with the story and then I’ll go into the lessons about it.

So this is a phenomenon that happens in Colorado, which is separated by the Rocky Mountains. There are a lot of storms brewing from time to time. And they would just roll over these mountains. They are very violent storms, but they would also be fairly short-lived. And in these ranges in Colorado, there are cows and there are buffaloes.

These to react to the storms completely differently.

When that storm rolls over the mountain, what cows do is they sense the storm and they start running away from it.

And well, obviously, if you know anything about cows, you know they’re not very fast. So the storm catches up with them. And instead of outrunning the storm, they just extend the time they are in the storm. They extend their own pain, their own frustration, their own suffering. Because they try to run away from the storm, which they obviously can’t.

Buffaloes are the exact opposite of cows.

They also sense the storm but what they do is they go and run headfirst into that storm. The storm was going this way, they are going this way and thus they minimize the time they are suffering. They minimize their own pain, their own frustration.

You Are a Damn Cow!

But the thing is:

In life, most people are cows and probably you as well.

If you think about your life right now, there are probably some things that you are running away from, things that you are procrastinating on. Things that you are not doing because they feel scary or intimidating. Even when you know, those are the right things to do for you to take your life to the next level.

But you are just like that cow running straight away from it…

And that’s the problem.

Anything that you procrastinate on, anything. If you run away from it, it’s not going to stay the same, it’s going to multiply.

If you are in a load of financial debt, for example, running away from your problems, just turning a blind eye. That’s going to make the problem even worse because you’re not tackling it head-on. But that’s what most people do in life…

It’s the attitude of:

“Oh, shit. That sounds intimidating. That’s scary. I’m not going to do that. I’ll, you know, I’ll do it tomorrow when I’m feeling better”.

But then tomorrow comes and it’s the same thing over and over again.

The Truth About Achievement

So people have this habit of just running away from their problems, constantly.

And the thing is: if you dive right in: yes, it’s going to be uncomfortable, period. That’s how it works in life. Anything that’s worth achieving takes effort. It takes energy. It takes a bit of pain and suffering because nothing really good comes easy.

If you want to have a great relationship, you need to go through rejection. You need to go through working up the courage to even approach someone.

If you want to be in shape, you need to go to the gym. You need to eat better. Instead of watching fucking Netflix and eating chips on the couch.

One is easy, one is hard.

One gets you some quick comfort right now while the other one gets you towards your goals.

Are you a cow or a Buffalo? That’s ultimately the question you need to be asking yourself. And once you know that you can change your habits. If you are a cow person and you can learn to double down on your strengths. You can become someone who takes action right away, like a Buffalo.

Fix Your Habits, Fix Your Life

So I know it sounds like a hard thing to do, right?

So I’ve got some trainings prepared to help you. Which we’ll link in the description below if you’re watching this on YouTube. And if you’re watching this on The Unchained Life there will be a link somewhere as well. So one of these trainings is on how to build better habits.

The other one is how to break your bad habits because let’s face it:

The life you lead is directly correlated to the habits you have in your life. If every day you work out, you’re going to be in great shape. If every day you watch 10 hours of Netflix, you are not gonna achieve much of anything. If every day you face one of your fears, you will be one of the most courageous people in the planet.

If every day you run away from your fears you are going to stay playing small inside of your tiny little comfort zone. Life is all about habits. So go ahead, grab those two trainings. They are absolutely free by the way. Go ahead. Grab them, run with them, like a Buffalo and you will see tremendous results in your life.

So cow or a Buffalo?
